January TBR Pile

Soooo, yeah, I didn’t finish December’s TBR. I read 3 of the books (one I didn’t finish, I almost got to the end and the book stopped loading and I couldn’t finish it.) This time, I have it all planned out!

In her small town, dubbed “Dullsville,” sixteen-year-old Raven — a vampire-crazed goth-girl — is an outcast. But not for long…

The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people — especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander’s loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

Greg Gaines is the last master of high school espionage, able to disappear at will into any social environment. He has only one friend, Earl, and together they spend their time making movies, their own incomprehensible versions of Coppola and Herzog cult classics.

Until Greg’s mother forces him to rekindle his childhood friendship with Rachel.

Rachel has been diagnosed with leukemia—-cue extreme adolescent awkwardness—-but a parental mandate has been issued and must be obeyed. When Rachel stops treatment, Greg and Earl decide the thing to do is to make a film for her, which turns into the Worst Film Ever Made and becomes a turning point in each of their lives.

And all at once Greg must abandon invisibility and stand in the spotlight.

Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.

Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who’s determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She’s not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.

But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life–and memories–behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant–an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Don’t they all sound wonderful?! I am sure that most of you are familiar with Outlander…

Queen of Shadows: Holy Gods Above

Title: Queen of Shadows Author: Sarah J. Maas Star Rating: 4.99

So, I would give it  five stars. If I could comprehend what on Earth I just read. Good Gods above am I mad at the ending. It was just.. This is the first time in my life that I actually wanted a cliffhanger. Seriously. In no other circumstance would I want more drama in books. I just… Expected more, I guess. I thought it was going to be this big finale and one would die, and my heart would be wrenched outta my chest. I ended up skimming through the words. Yeah, that’s right. I skimmed.

I expected a whole lot more. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a fabulous book and I know it is not the end of the series, but I seriously wanted someone to die, and for there to be great sadness. Lots of people in this book did die but they weren’t that important to me. The people that did die were important to the story, but you know, I didn’t really care about them. They weren’t really important to me. I was happy about their death, and thought, “Hell yeah! Finally!”

Anyhoo, enough about disappointment. I FINISHED THE BOOK! I did not know that this book was going to be 672 pages. I thought it was going to be small, like the other books, and that I would whip through it. Then, I saw the book in public.

I have read big books, its just bigger than the other books in the series. By three times. Hell, I have read books with over a thousand pages (and my classmates stood by my shoulder, peering at me, with hatred flowing from their body.)

The characters were drastically different. Especially Aelin. Aelin is so different from Celaena (in case you didn’t know, these people are the same person. I am not going to go into detail about that, read the Heir of Fire review…) Aelin was Celaena, she was sarcastic and she was vain, she still kicked some butt! But she was so mature while she was those things. She thought for her country and Dorian’s country. She acted like an actual Queen. I miss the childish Celaena!

And Chaol! Gah! What a…. Gah! Him and Nesryn are cute, maybe. But he is not his old self. And I just sit here, on my fabulous green chair, judging him for everything. At least he stopped thinking Celaena was a monster and thought about how Aelin is. Seriously.

Rowan… I love him. I love Rowan sooooo much. So much that it hurts my heart to type his name. Because my keys are not worthy. He is the same. He stayed the same. A little nicer than the last book, not completely a *insert word here*. No, he was nice. He was adorable. I think the Fae territorial thing is adorable. If it were a human guy, it would be a huge red flag, and Aelin would have to run in the opposite direction, screaming. But he is not a human, he is a FINE male Fae. May the ship keep sailing!

And in the beginning we didn’t have Rowan. Rowan was not available. He was still where Aelin told him to stay! And I missed him. I missed him a lot. I probably annoyed the libinbg Hell out of the people on Goodreads, whining about how I missed him. But I really did.

Aedion: I really didn’t like him in Heir of Fire. He was not… I can’t word. But he was not like the other male characters, and obviously wasn’t in love with Celaena/Aelin at one point. Well, he loves her, but in a brotherly love way. Which is good because they are cousins. But in this book I could tolerate him. His devotion to Aelin is admirable and sweet.  And he was territorial, which made Rowan territorial, which made my day!

Manon: Everyone loves Manon. I honestly, don’t care about her. I think she is cool, she a’ight. But she tried to kill Aelin and hit Rowan instead, so I have to hate her. The way she saved Elide though… I would do that for my sister. Sure, it would be gory, and I don’t really have an appetite for blood, but for my sister, I would do it. But Manon was cool but I didn’t think that she was the cat’s meow.

Dorian was hurting. Baby was hurting. That demon collar! If m dad put a demon collar on me, the second it was off of me, I would’ve blasted him into the next century. When he got the demon collar off… *cries hysterically* I hated Dorian POVs because they tore my heart, little by little. They made me want to crawl into a hole and die… They were so sad, how he was stuck in there! *cries again*

I was so shocked with basically the whole ending. Like I said, I couldn’t comprehend. My brain just turned off, like it did when I read the ending of “We Were Liars” which you should read.

So, the King kept talking about Chaol being dead. I didn’t really care for Chaol, but I was still sad for Dorian, because their bromance man. I loved the bromance. And the King was just gonna end the bromance right there… No! And I kinda sorta wanted Chaol to die, I’d be like, “Wow. Didn’t see that one comin’! Good work Ms. Maas!” No. That didn’t happen. Chaol was alive. Dorian was okay.

When Aelin and Manon fought I sat here like:

That was entertaining to say the least. I was most definitely on Aelin’s side but I wanted to see Manon become the awesome chick she is said to be. She became the awesome chick. The fight was more entertaining than the fights we have at school, which three years after the fight, people are still bringing it up. Aelin made a huge mistake though… She could’ve killed Manon. I mean, the opportunity was right in front of her, she could’ve just let Manon die… No. Because she is a nice person. And heard Asterin call out Manon’s name like Rowan called Aelin’s. How cute.

Anyway, although I was disappointed in this book, I still enjoyed it. Happy reading guys!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Yes, I saw it. I saw it on Thursday but was too shocked to write a review on it. This review will be spoiler-free because it is Star Wars, and no one wants Star Wars spoilers. I give this marvelous thing an infinite amount of stars, even the galaxy doesn’t have enough stars for it.

Yeah, so, you should know by now that I am a huge Star Wars fan. I was a delayed Star Wars fan because I was not born at the right time, nor did I watch the movies at an age that I could actually remember them. I have only been an obsessive fan for half a year… Don’t judge me…

Still, I am an obsessive fan, which is enough for me. I am late for most things anyway.

Let me tell you about my feelings for all the characters:

Yes, all of them. Especially, no, I just love all of them. And I was just drooling over Kylo Ren and Finn! Look at them! Look!

StarWarsIsLife2.jpg  He wears black like me! Lemme tell you, that if I were in Star Wars, Kylo Ren and I would be happily ruling the Dark Side together! With all our power and red lightsabers! MWAHAHAHA!

StarWarsIsLife3  He is fine! FINE! Part of his name is in the word “Fine” too. He is fine and funny, and just gushes over Rey which is adorable.

Mew loves Poe, but I just think a’ight. Nothin’ special, just a’ight.

Anyway, If you haven’t yet seen the movie, shame on you, get your butt up and go see it!!!

Random Things Part 2

So yesterday I did Christmas shopping with my Mummy-jay and Mew. For ourselves. I didn’t necessarily want open presents either. Waking up at the crack of dawn because my body knows how I am anticipating the presents that are under the tree. Then having to wait hours for the old people to get up and drink their coffee. Then, of course I would have to clean my room, and because I am a slacker, I sit on my bed for half of the time I should be cleaning. Not really what I like.

What I like about the Holidays is that I get to sleep. And of course spend time with my family… And all the food! That is pretty much all I care about. I don’t really care about getting presents. Do I like them? Of course. But I find it odd that one day a year people go out and spend a whole bunch of money on people in their lives. But every other day it is completely normal. Seriously.

Back to what I was saying: I went shopping yesterday. Our goal was to spend my grandfather’s gift to us. We ended up being complete girls and we picked up everything that we saw.

I wanted this adorable Chewbacca. I don’t know if y’all know, but I am a huge Star Wars fan. It was $100. Did I want it?!

And just wait ’til you see what he looks like!:

He is bae! I needed him! He talks too! Sadly, we are not made of money and we couldn’t get him, I still love him though. And when I have enough money, I will hunt a Chewie down and get him! MWAHAHA!

Then, I wanted a stuffed animal. If I couldn’t have a $100 Chewie, I had to have a something. So we walked around the whole Target to find the stuffies. No one has stuffies anymore. So we had to go to the baby section for stuffies. I got the cutest teddy bear in the whole wide world!

My teddy is a little darker than this, but definitely cuter. His name is Benny Bear. I love him, and if you want a cute bear to cuddle with, I recommend a SweetSprout Stuffy!

Then I got red plastic lightsaber that I have already beat Mew with. And an adorable little unicorn that Sadie (my dog) bit the eyes off of and slobbered on. But what would a toy unicorn be without dog slobber and no eyes?

Then, in the search for more stuffies we headed to Kohls! They had a charity thing goin’ on and we wanted stuffies anyway. So I got this little cutie:

I named him Panderz! I love him and Benny so much! They are so soft and squishable!  And Benny is about half the size I am!

My concert is tomorrow so I should start practicing! Bye peoples! 😀

December TBR Pile!

Okay, I haven’t posted anything in a while… I have been quite the slacker lately. But I am working on a book review for Heir of Fire by Sarah Maas and I am currently rereading Twilight. Yes, Twilight. And it is sorta, kinda late for a Monthly TBR post, but whatever!

So my goal for this month is to read five books (I will try to read 5 books each month from now on. Then, I will be able to do at least a blog post per week.)

This month’s TBR pile!

QueenofShadows Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. I am thrilled that I am on hold for this book. Though, I am sad that it has been 5 days since I placed a hold. I guess I thought all holds were going to be fast because my first one was… Silly me!

Okay, here is the synopsis: The Queen is back. Aelin (aka Celaena) is back to take her empire and take over what should be hers. She embraced her true identity and is now reclaiming her throne.

This book came out in September but I was late to read this series… The next one will come out next year.. Sadly.

Scarlet.jpg So I have this book and I probably would’ve read it over break. But I left it in my locker because, like I said, I am a major slacker.

Synopsis: Scarlet’s grandmother went missing and it seems like no one is doing anything about. The government is keeping secrets. But Scarlet will find her grandmother. But Scarlet soon realizes that there are a ton of things she doesn’t know about her grandmother. Then she meets Wolf who knows about where her grandmother is. Together, they unravel the mystery and encounter Cinder (the MC in the first book) and they all work together to stop an evil queen.

white cat.jpg I have only read one of Holly Black’s books and another is also on my TBR pile. But I know that she is a good writer based on the book I read, called Doll Bones.

Synopsis: Cassel comes from a shady family and doesn’t fit in anywhere. He starts having weird dreams about a white cat and people around him are losing there memories slowly.

Mercedes or Mercy Thompson is able to shift into a coyote and her next door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boos was a gremlin. She is fixing a bus for a vampire. This is her world and her connection to this world of hers is getting her into some serious trouble.

Fallen A lot of people don’t like this book but Imma read it anyway, I read a lot of books people don’t like. So despite the warnings here, there, and everywhere, I shall read it!

Synopsis: Lucinda falls in love with a gorgeous guy named Daniel, who is an Fallen Angel… You know, now that I think abouts it… I think that this book with sucketh. But I must read it!

Do y’all think I can complete all these books?

Heir of Fire: Rowaelin Forever

heir of fire

Title: Heir of Fire                                     Author: Sarah J. Maas                              Star Rating: 4

The new WordPress format sucks! GAH! Why? I miss the old one…

So I finally got a hold of this gorgeous book. I loved it! I loved it so much! Sure, I didn’t give it 5 stars but that is because I was angry at the book. There was not enough Rowaelin! Yes, a new ship! I just love that for every single book, I seem to ship Celaena with a new guy…

Lemme summarize this book first. This is a Celaena summary, we got new characters they were all over the place. So, Celaena is now out of the palace and Chaol is no longer a major issue. Thank the Gods. Rowan Whitehorn found Celaena and took her to see Queen Maeve, aka, her aunt that her mother tried to keep her away from. The Queen says that she will tell Celaena about the Wyrdkeys but she wants to see her fire magic. Celaena agrees and the Queen makes Rowan train her.

Manon Blackbeak: A new character! YAS! Manon is a witch, and there are like, ten+ kind of witches, and I am not going to go into all of that. She is an Ironteeth witch. She has iron teeth (obviously) and iron claws. So far, all I can tell is that there is a rivalry between the witches and they are in some sort of competition. All witches had to pick a wyvren. Manon picks Abraxos who is not the best choice, she actually has to train it immensely.

Dorian and Chaol: Chaol tells Dorian Celaena’s secret and tells Aedion about how the Queen of Terrasen is alive. They discuss together, the rise of the queen and they get caught with Scorscha… Poor Scorscha.

Okay, lemme tell you about Scorscha. Scorscha is the healer who often helped Celaena, Dorian, and Chaol with their injuries. Dorian keeps going back to the healer. They develop feelings for each other… I shoulda known from the start that it wasn’t going to end well. No relationship in this book ends well man! Not even friendships in this book series last for longer than a year. After of loving the cuteness that is Dorian and Scorscha, she gets beheaded by someone. The King ordered it.

How I feel about the king:

Yup, that is how I feel. And I hope that Celaena guts him. I hope she takes her precious time, too. He just destroys every single thing in the series! Does he get Celaena out of Endovier? Kinda, sorta. Really, it was Dorian, but if the King wasn’t looking for an assassin then Dorian never would’ve picked Celaena.

Can we just take a moment to talk about Rowan?

Not only do I love him, but I love that we have the same name. Good Gods, he was awful in the beginning of this book but I TOTALLY ship them now. Even though there is like 0% romance in this book, I still ship it.ships.jpg

This book is fantastic and I am so happy that Celaena will rise and embrace her beauty as QUEEN OF TERRASEN! Woohoo!

I just got notified that I now have Queen of Shadows, you best believe that the review is coming soon!

Love you guys! BYE!
